Two ponies, ready to cut them and put them in an envelope for some lucky little girl, who needs those ponies for a wig to help her through tough times! Here is the shining star! Bouncy locks and a cute little bob, swinging her head out the door, proud of what she has done!

Nice Job M!

Interesting Hair color by the Bijou girls!

Have you ever heard of convertible hair???

If I had to let you guess....what would you come up with??

Something I bet like this...wild, windblown hair, flying in your face!

Well...

That is wrong!

Last year Kimberlee and I went to a hair show in New York City, the guy who did the runway show had a fabulous stage presence and talked about his $700 color. He had a really cool technique where the model he had, was a relatively normal color, then he whipped her around, flipped her part and suddenly she was a shocking platinum blond. So Kimberlee and I have talked about this color for a year now, but in small town Skaneateles, there weren't a lot of daring people to try it on!

ENTER COURTNEY!

Okay, here are the personalities at Bijou:

Me, I'm pretty basic, I like my highlighted blond hair, sometimes I like to mix a little copper or caramel low lights in there, but for all intensive purposes, I stay comfortably in my box.

Jackie is the same, conservative would be a good word, conservative but still trendy, maybe a little tiny sassy, if you could pick up on those soft sassy tones that show in our hair:)

Lori, is the type that could go with some crazy colors, well some bold highlights or low lights, but right now, being a busy Mom of 3 and working part time, she keeps to her same color...when all the kids are in school, I see her getting more daring!

Michele, I think she goes through trendy colors, when she first started she was a dark chocolate brown with a BOLD streak of caramel on one side, she has pretty much morphed into a red head right now, each month a different shade.

Kimberlee, changes all the time, most people look forward to her ever changing color, and sometimes I think we should post an update on the sidebar with what color she is, just to forewarn the ones that don't like change much:) She has been all platinum with black on the bottom peaking out, or allover a dark mocha with caramel ribboning, back to platinum and dark peaking through, she is a brave one, I thought she was the one who would try anything!

And now for Courtney, I thought she was the basic brown in variations with some highlights or no highlights, but conservative....how wrong was I?? She jumped at the chance for trying our tales of "the convertible color"....and now on the odd days she can be platinum, and on the even days she can be a multitude of cherry red, caramel ribbons and black as black. Could it be that she is turning 30 next week and wants to take a walk on the wild side before she falls over the hill???!

So anyway, that is a convertible color...a color that you can wear as a blond (top down) or red, caramel and black (top up)....would anyone else try a convertible color????? Call us...we'll talk! 315-685-1300

100th birthdays and why I love the internet!

Today I had the Honor, and I do mean Honor with a capital H, to meet Helen. She is a local Skaneateles resident who is turning 100!

Thanks to the Internet, her Granddaughter Leslie contacted me a few weeks ago asking if we could come to her beloved Grandmothers house who was turning 100 years old for a manicure, something she wasn't sure if her grandma had ever had!! How could I ever refuse! I knew I would have a lovely time and it was something that I looked forward to from the moment I booked the appointment for her!

So today was the day and I have to admit, I was a bit nervous, I was worried mostly that she would be very fragile and as I was going to give her a manicure, I worried about the massage part, I wondered to myself if she would really understand what was going on or be able to hear me! ( I was remembering my grandmother, who at 90 was very frail. Okay....NOT the case for Helen! I should have asked her my most burning question....HOW did you do it! This wonderful women was up and around, and not slowly either, she was calm and sharp as a the sharpest tool in the shed! Her hands looked that of my moms hands (and she is in her 60's)!

I could have really stayed all day, she told me that she met her husband in the 8th grade right here in Skaneateles. They are both turning 100, she is tomorrow and him next year sometime! He was also a spry guy, putting his hands over hers to steal her manicure time..she was teasing him that there would be no dishes for her this week! They were both so interesting, telling me about the dance halls that were in town, he used to play in a band and they would all go dancing. Someplace near Legg hall I think and near the bank drive thru, I know, I know, I should have taken notes!!

So Thank you Leslie, for searching manicures in Skaneateles and coming up with Bijou and Thank you for calling. Thank you Helen for letting me be a part of your surprise! It was truly an honor, I do hope in the spring we can do that pedicure, something you said you have never had before! (Next time, I'd be sure to take notes!)

Bijou Christmas party at Mirbeau, what a treat!

Christmas schedules can get hectic. Parties are just one more thing to add to the huge list of obligations for Christmas! For months we have been planning our "Christmas party", really an exciting thing for me, cause last year our party was small, really it was me and Kimberlee:) BUT now we had people to celebrate with! After months of considering where we were going to have our party, we had so many ideas of where to go, Joelles' or Rosalies...and where NOT to go...bowling and pizza, no no no!

Thomas and I were very thankful of the girls hard work over the year and we appreciate more than anything how well everyone gets along! So we thought a real indulgence was in order! To Mirbeau we go!

Our itinerary was this:

Yoga @ 9:15 - 10:15

Rest in the quiet room 10:15 to 11:00

Treatments from 11 to 12....massages, facials and vichy's...luxury ahhhh!

Outdoor hot tub (with snow added, yay!) 12 to 1pm

Lunch and presents till 3pm

We all had a great time with Yoga, we all did it without laughing hysterically at ourselves! Laura Ponticello from Laura's book's joined us, I told her if we got out of line and ruined her relaxation, to give us a code word..."mistletoe"...well Sue, who taught the yoga, kept us plenty busy with poses and stretches that there was no time for being silly, we were working...the idea of a massage was looking good!

So after that we relaxed in the quiet room and steam rooms, had some fruit and just enjoyed the serenity of the whole place! If you have not been there, put it on your Christmas wish list! It's truly an experience and everyone should try to go there! All the staff made sure we had a relaxing and positive experience!

Next we had our treatments, we all noticed how nice it was when each attendant came to get us and called us by our formal names, Miss Baker, Miss Pontello, Miss Gage....it was such a nice touch! All our treatments were fabulous and left us feeling just as we should have..like jello! Our next huge treat was going out in the snow, to the outdoor hot tub, it was unbelievably fun, snowflakes coming down, drinking wine...

Lunch was up and good thing, cause our tummies were really rumbling (plus the wine and hot tub were taking effect on us, we all wobbled up the stairs to the dining room:)! The food was fabulous and we were lucky enough to have Shane one of the servers as our buddy! He was SO sweet and had a lot of fun teasing us! He also brought us out a special plate of cookies and chocolate covered strawberries, for "his special guests", sooo sweet:) He's really lucky he didn't get a big kiss from each of us, we really appreciated his special attention and it made the end of our unforgettable day even better!

So thank you to everyone at Mirbeau for making our whole day so special! All our attendants were really great and the whole day was magical, almost like being at Disney, but for big kids and no rides! We all agreed the whole experience left us feeling like Princesses! We may have to make this an annual event!
